Degenhardt, Lorraine  (16 MAR. 1915-21 NOV 2010)

 

Lorraine M. Degengardt, 95, Sparta, died on Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, at Monroe Memorial Home, Sparta. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Sparta. Rev. Edward Shuttleworth officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.

 

Lorraine Beaver was born on March 16, 1915, in Loyal, to Frank and Kathyrn Beaver. She grew up near Loyal, where she and her husband bought a farm shortly before World War ll. They later purchased the Saddle Mound Tavern in eastern Jackson County. They sold the business after 15 years and moved to Sparta. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed quilting and cooking.

 

Survivors include three sisters, Marcy Schoettle, Alice "Honey" Owens and Donna Zagar, her son-in-law, Richard A. Brown; two grandsons, Dennis Brown and Norb Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Grace Brown and Sean Brown.

 

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Maureen Brown; her husband, Alfred Degenhardt; a sister, Evelyn Fricke; and three brothers, Arthur Beaver, Gilbert Beaver and Joseph Beaver.
