Fisher, Betty J. (29 DEC 1951)

Miss Betty Jean Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Fisher, and Everett Smith, son of Mrs. Mattie Smith of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), repeated their marriage vows before the Rev. Adolph Schumann in Veefkind Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, Dec. 29^th, 1951.  The altar was beautifully decorated with baskets of white carnations and cedar sprays.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was lovely in white satin with fitted bodice and full skirt ending in a long train.  The skirt had ruffle lace panels on each side and lace extended all around the train.  She carried a cascade bouquet of pink and white roses tied with white ribbon.  Her fingertip veil was held in place by a crown of seed pearls and rhinestones.

Leona Hinkleman of Marshfield, amid of honor, was gowned in bronze satin and carried a bouquet similar to the bride’s and tied with ribbon to match her gown.

Bridesmaids were Beverly Rollins of Spencer and Mrs. Dennis Potvin of St. Paul, a sister of the groom.  They were similarly dressed in shrimp and aqua colored satin gowns, with bouquets to match.

Carol Scidmore of Janesville acted as junior bridesmaid and was gowned in gold satin.  All wore bonnets and mitts to match their gowns in color.

Best man was Melvin Smith, brother of the groom, from Great Lakes Naval Station.

Gerald Giloy of Humbird, uncle of the bride, and Jerry Staves, Wausau, a cousin of the groom, were groomsmen.  Jon Fisher, brother of the bride, was junior attendant.  Ushers were Eldon Fisher of Wis. Rapids and Arthur Linder of St. Paul.

Ruth Garbish of Granton played the wedding march and recessional, and accompanied Richard Harim as he sang "O Promise Me" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

A bountiful supper was served in the parish hall to approximately 125 guests.  The bride’s table was centered by a beautiful 3-tier wedding cake baked by the groom’s aunt, Mrs. William Staves of Humbird.

Table waitresses were Doris Weyhmiller, Jeanne Tews, Marlene and Shirley Rollins, Carol Brue and Beverly Staves.

Those who worked in the kitchen were Mrs. Howard Schultz, Mrs. W. O’Leary, Mrs. Robert Brett and Mrs. Erwin Farnsworth.

The best wishes of all go with the happy young couple to their home at Humbird, where the groom is engaged in farming.  He is a graduate of the Humbird High School, and his bride is a graduate of Loyal High School.  She was formerly employed at the Loyal Canning Co.  They are now on a honeymoon trip to New Orleans and Florida.

Staves and Beverly, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Staves, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lubinski, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Staves and Gerald, and Herbert Giloy, all of Humbird, Vernon Giloy and Mrs. Adelbert Draves and son, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Fisher and daughters, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Fisher and family of Wis.  Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Art Fisher and family, Marshfield, Mrs. Grace Giloy and daughters, Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Scidmore and family, Janesville, Bev and Mrs. A. Schumann and daughters, Globe, and Mrs. Clara F..?, Loyal.
