Castner, Maude (10 OCT 1877 - 15 JAN 1952)

Mrs. Albert Castner passed away on Jan. 15^th, 1952 at the age of 74 years.  She had been in poor health for quite some time but was taken suddenly ill while visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hugo Roesler in Thorp.

She was taken to the Stanley Hospital by ambulance and there she died at 7:15 in the evening.

Funeral services were held last Friday at 2 o’clock at the Methodist Church in Loyal, the Rev. Lee Holmes officiating.  Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.  Final rites were also performed by officers of the Royal Neighbor Lodge of America.

Serving as pallbearers were Frank Coryell, John Habhegger, Ray Prior, John Kosmosky, Dan Wolters and Hugo Roesler.  Providing hymns for the occasion were James Colby, John Olson, Mrs. Addie Prior and Mrs. Bertha Nelson.  Mrs. Byron Zepplin accompanied at the organ.

Mrs. Castner, nee Maude Davis, was born Oct. 10^th, 1877, to Emily and Bush Davis in the Town of York.  She received her education in the rural schools of Clark County.  She was married to Albert Castner on Dec. 31, 1896, and to them were born 12 children, five of whom preceded her in death.

Mrs. Castner was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church and an active member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and the Royal Neighbors Lodge.

She is survived by four sons, Forrest Castner, Milwaukee, Harry Castner, Oshkosh, Royal Castner, Portage, John Castner, Loyal, and three daughters, Grace Kosmosky, Eau Claire, Nina Wolters, Loyal, and Hazel Roesler, Thorp, and two sisters, Martha Castner, Sun Prairie, and Mrs. Philip Kissinger, Loyal.  Her husband preceded her in death.

In addition to members of the immediate family, friends and other relatives from Thorp, Stanley, Granton, Greenwood, Marshfield, Owen and Curtiss attended the final rites.
