Jalowitz, Al J. (16 MAY 1930 - 26 DEC 2010)

 

Al J. Jalowitz, 80, of Withee died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen with Father S. Nathan officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon.

 

Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service Wednesday.

 

Pallbearers will be Jon Dircks, Randy Fredrickson, Dennis Flease, Branden Bodendorfer, Jim Oehler and Nick Carroll.

 

Al was born May 16, 1930, in Chicago to George and Bernice (Kara) Jalowitz.

 

On June 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Margaret Swiontek at the Old Saint Hedwig's Church in Thorp. Together, they bought a farm in the town of Hixon in 1956 and continued to operate it for 25 years. After farming, he was the chief of police for the city of Owen, retiring in 1994.

 

Al is survived by his wife, Margaret of Withee, and children Ken (Pam) Jalowitz of Withee, John (Lisa) Jalowitz of Medford, Jim Jalowitz of Thorp and Brian (Lori) Jalowitz of Medford. He further is survived by grandchildren Heather, Makayla, Jackson, Janae, and Noah and sisters Del (Gene) Gustafson and Joan (Roger) Deutschlander.

 

Al enjoyed visiting with family and friends, deer hunting, camping and cutting wood. He took pride in his home and yard.

 

Al was preceded in death by his parents.
