Decorah, Catherine (6 January 1910 - 5 November 1960)
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson for their daughter, Mrs. Allen (Catherine) Decorah, 50, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, who was killed Saturday in an accident in Black River Falls.
Andrew Black Hawk, Indian speaker, officiated, and burial was made in the Indian Cemetery on Rt. 1 Neillsville.
Mr. Decorah was injured fatally when the car in which she was riding struck a utility pole after crossing the Black River Bridge in downtown Black River Falls. She suffered head injuries and died at the hospital in that city.
The car was driven by her son, Kelly 20, who told officers he cut the corner too closely. Kelly is a former Neillsville High School student.
Mrs. Decorah, daughter of John and Nora (Redhorn) Thompson, was born January 6, 1910. She was married in 1927 to Allen Decorah in Lansing, Ia.
She is survived by her husband and a son, Kelly, at home. Other survivors are her aged parents and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Victor (Sylvia) Kingswan, St. Paul, Minn.; Miss Myrl Thompson and Miss Beulah Thompson, both at home; Lindley Thompson, and Herschel Thompson, Wisconsin Rapids; Preston Thompson, St. Paul, Minn.; and Ralph Thompson, Chicago, Ill.
Pallbearers were: Victor Kingswan, George Bear, Clifford Blackdeer, Henry Rowe, Willie Wilson and Benjamin Hopinka.
Out of town people here for the services were: Mrs. Flora Big Thunder, Schofield; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Bird, Winnebago, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Lindley Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shegonee, Mr. and Mrs. George Garvin, and Mrs. Frank Johnson and family, all of Wisconsin Rapids; Ralph Thompson, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Kingswan, and Mr. and Mrs. Preston Thompson, St. Paul, Minn.
