Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Charles H. Brown on Sunday, Nov. 29, at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Earl Sayles, in Inglewood, Cal.

Mrs. Brown, nee Mary Eliza Romaine, was born in Fond du Lac county on Nov. 17, 1866. When she was three years old, she came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Romaine, to the town of Beaver in Clark county. They made their home there until 1893, when they moved to the village of Loyal.

She taught school for several years before her marriage to Mr. Brown on Oct. 24, 1895. They then made their home in Hartford for several years, returning to Loyal in the early 1900’s. They lived here until 1927, when they moved to California. Mr. Brown preceded Mrs. Brown in death, passing away on Nov. 18, 1936. While in Loyal, Mrs. Brown was a member of the Women’s Relief Corps and of the Iris chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the latter at the time of her death.

Surviving Mrs. Brown are four grandchildren, Mrs. Sayles (Mary Brown) of Inglewood, Mrs. John Jacobi (Jane Brown) of route one, Greenwood, Charles Brown of Colby and Harry Brown of Lawndale, Cal.; five great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. John (Leah) Graves of Long Beach, Cal., and Mrs. Robert (Jessie) Eunsen of Inglewood. Mrs. Eunsen and Mrs. Brown have made a home together since 1943. There are also surviving nieces and nephews in Wisconsin and California.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brown were conducted last Wednesday ay Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Beard of the Emanuel Presbyterian church of Long Beach officiating. The sermon was from the 23^rd Psalm and "The Lord’s Prayer" and "The Twenty Third Psalm" were sung. Pallbearers were nephews and other relatives. Burial was in the Inglewood Park cemetery.
