Johnson, Olaf Adolph (15 April 1881 - 9 November 1960)
Olaf Adolph Johnson, 79, died at his home in Greenwood November 9. He had been a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, since November 4 and had been brought back home the day before his death.
Mr. Johnson was born April 15, 1881, in Sweden. When he was four years old his parents brought him to the United States.
He was married July 25, 1906, to Mabel Hendrickson in Greenwood. They farmed northeast of here until 12 years ago, when they retired and moved into this city. Their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Johnson now occupy the farm.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mabel) Harding of Wausau, Mrs. Roy (Jane) Nichols of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Vern (Verna) Parish of Elmhurst, Ill., and Mrs. James (Dorothy) Webb of Northbrook, Ill.; and two sons, Lawrence and Leslie, both of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Delmond and Leonard Johnson, Arthur and Carl Turnquist, Clarence Verhulst and Godfrey Dyre. Mrs. Richard Thompson and Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold accompanied by Mrs. Don Warner sang "What a friend we Have in Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Attending from away were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harding and family of Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nichols and family of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Parish and family of Elmhurst, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. James Webb and family of Northbrook, Ill.; Mrs. Lester Luther, Mr. and Mrs. John McMahon and his sister, Mrs. Arlene Ammerman, all of Eau Claire; Miss Barbara McMahon of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hendrickson of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smith and family of Vesper; Miss Bonnie Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wiersig, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wiersig and Mrs. Norman Kobs of Colby.
