Kalsow, Gustave Albert (18 November 1888 - 11 November 1960)

 

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday for Gustave Albert Kalsow, 72, of Neillsville who died here Friday.

 

The Rev. E. G. Burtness officiated at services from Calvary Lutheran Church.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Kalsow was born November 18, 1888, in Clark County.  He was the son of the late William and Augusta (Klueckmann) Kalsow.  He received his education in the Town of Weston schools and later farmed for several years in Clark County.  He had resided in Neillsville for the last 12 years.

 

Mr. Kalsow, a veteran of World War I, was custodian of the American Legion Hall for several years.  He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church and of the Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73, American Legion.

 

He was married June 20, 1918, in Globe, to the former Minnie Wegner, who survives.  Also surviving are five children: Donald of Neillsville, Ruby Ward of Milwaukee, Mrs. Calvin (Gladys) Gerhardt of Rt. 1, Neillsville, Mrs. Dwayne (Dorothy) Buettner of Chili, and Rachel of Marshfield.

 

Other survivors include four sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Emma Martin, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Anna Klauer, Berlin; Mrs. Paul (Theresa) Klauer, Rt. 3, Neillsville; Mrs. Martha Hoffman, Rt. 3, Neillsville; William (C W) Kalsow, Neillsville; Otto Kalsow, Wauwatosa; Edward Kalsow, Rt. 3, Neillsville; and 13 grandchildren.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.  Pallbearers were: Clarence Haigh, Wayne W. Trimberger, Arnold Henchen, J. F. Zimmer, M. J. Hopkins and E. H. Snyder.  Flowers were carried by Mrs. Hilbert Naedler and Mrs. Kenneth Olson.

 

Wilfred Galstad sang two hymns, "Asleep in Jesus" and "Heaven is My Home", accompanied by Mrs. E. G. Burtness.

 

Out of Town people attending the service were: Miss Rachel Kalsow, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Buettner and family, Chili; Mrs. Margaretha Moelling, Marshfield; Mrs. Anna Klauer, Berlin, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Heise, Pine River; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Klauer, and  Mrs. Othe Linster, Neillsville and Mr. and Mrs. Theamore Vine, Granton.
