Greenwood, Wisconsin (Homemakers Clubs - 1960)

The Home Interest Homemakers met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Louis Vogel, with Mrs. Leon Kuester as co-hostess.  Mrs. Gene Carlson and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart were the project leaders.  The group made plans for their Christmas party December 13, at 2 p.m. at the Lawrence Cox home.  White elephant gifts and 50 cent gifts will be exchanged.  A potluck lunch will be served.

Mrs. John Kaltinger presided at the meeting of the Happy Hustlers Homemakers last Wednesday evening at the John Zepaltus home.  Plans were made for the group to attend a "Smorgasbord" in Owen December 11.  Mrs. Eugene Carteron reported four cakes were baked for residents of the Clark County Home for the aged in November.  Mrs. Carteron, Mrs. Arvin Gade and Mrs. Carl Stabnow reported on the recreation laboratory they attended, and displayed articles they made in the wood stick craft.  The club plans a meeting for this craft soon as materials can be obtained.  Members will donate wrapped Christmas gifts and articles of clothing for Northern Colony patients at Chippewa Falls.  Project leaders, Mrs. Adolph Abel and Mrs. Leona Syth, presented the current lesson.

The Merry Homemakers met Monday evening at the Frank Volovsek home.  Mrs. Mary Landini and Mrs. John Perme led a discussion of "Accessories in the home."

The next meeting will be a Christmas party, when "secret pals" will be revealed and new pals will be chosen. Each member will bring a gift for an elderly person, which will be sent as Christmas gifts to the Northern Colony at Chippewa Falls.

Sunday the members and their husbands attended a chicken dinner at Granton in a group.  Officers of the Merry Homemakers for 1961 are: Mrs. William Volovsek, president; Mrs. J. Stout, vice president; and Mrs. Lyle Baltus, secretary and treasurer.

The How and Why Homemakers met Wednesday afternoon at the John D. Speich home. Secret pals were drawn.  Plans were made for a Christmas party at the Francis Brey home December 20, with Mrs. Brey and Mrs. Kenneth Verhulst as co-hostess.  One dollar gifts will be exchanged.  Members will bring candy and cookies to pack a Christmas box for the Home for the Aged here.
