Armitage, Eleanore "Nellie" (30 December 1894 - 2 December 1960)
Mrs. Bruce (Nellie) Armitage, 66, of Neillsville, a lifelong resident of Clark County, died Friday. She had been a hospital patient for several weeks. Funeral services were held Monday from the Neillsville Methodist Church. The Rev. Virgil Holmes officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Armitage, the former Eleanore Schummel, was born December 30, 1894, in Neillsville, and received her education in the local schools. She was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Darling) Schummel, and on September 4, 1912, was married to the late Bruce Armitage. They farmed in the Town of Weston until the death of her husband in 1950, and for the last nine years she had resided in Neillsville.
She is survived by a son, Dale, of Neillsville; and a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Dorothy) Ratsch of Greenwood. Other survivors include six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Henry (Grace) Wittke, Neillsville.
A member of the Methodist church, she was active in church affairs. She was a member of the Deborah Circle, Royal Neighbors of America, and of the Women’s Relief Corps.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Georgas Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were: Warren Medicke, Clarence Holt, Fred Buchholz, Ray Mortimer, Everett Shaw and A. C. Janke. "Face to Face" and "Under His Wings" were sung by Mrs. Virgil Holmes and Herbert C. Feig, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. T. N. Thompson.
