Bullard, Ernest E. (military death - 19 Oct 1913)
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bullard were shocked by the receipt of a telegram Sunday from Rio Grande, Texas, announcing the death by a gun shot wound, of their son, Ernest E., who was a cavalry man in the United States army and stationed at Fort Reingold. He was a member of the "Fighting 14th" which returned last spring from Manila. He had served seven years and four months, re-enlisting twice. A portion of that time he had served as a member of the band, but of late had been engaged as a horse-shoer.
The telegram contained no details of the cause of the young man’s death, but stated that the body would be shipped here for burial.
Mr. Bullard had planned to visit his parents and friends last June, but when the time came was deeply disappointed in not being able to secure a furlough. He had not been home for eleven years. Deceased was 32 years and 8 months of age.
