Picus, William (15 February 1872 - December 1960)
William Picus, 88, a resident of Owen since 1937, died at Memorial Hospital, Stanley on December (missing).
He was born in Russia February 15, 1872, came to the United States in 1889 and married Bella Aaronson of Milwaukee in 1901. His wife survives. One son, Sam died in 1944 at Guadalcanal in World War II. Surviving are his daughters: Mrs. Andrew Overlry, Mrs. Bernard Springer, Mrs. Jean Wright and Mrs. Pauline Rynard, all of New York; and Mrs. Carl Pederson of Withee. A granddaughter, Naomi Johnson, also survives.
After his marriage in Milwaukee he moved to Minneapolis and was in business there until 1937, when he purchased a dry goods store in Owen. He retired in 1954.
Saturday the Odd Fellows Lodge conducted a service in Owen, and the body was taken to Milwaukee where services were held by a Jewish Rabbi. Burial was made Monday in Second Home cemetery.
