Davis, Truman West (7 May, 1872 - 17 December 1960)

 

Funeral services for Truman W. Davis, 88, who died Saturday in Neillsville, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton.  The Rev. Virgil Holmes of Neillsville officiated.  Burial was made in Windfall Cemetery.

 

Truman West Davis was born May 7, 1872, the son of Fred W. and Ruth (Lee) Davis, on the farm now owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thiede in the Town of Grant.  His parents came to Clark County in 1864.

 

Mr. Davis attended school at Windfall Corners and Neillsville High School.  He was married to the former Effie Breese on October 12, 1898, at Romadka.  They farmed in the towns of Grant and York for 27 years, then moved into Granton in 1925.  Mr. Davis had been in failing health for many months.

 

While a resident of the Town of York, Mr. Davis Served as town treasurer.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Davis celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary October 12, 1960.

 

He is survived by his wife and a son, Eldred Davis of Granton; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Lila) Hubing of Neillsville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Mrs. Free (Carol) McHone of Granton.

 

Pallbearers were: Gus Bergemann, Rella Osgood, William Naedler, Elmer Newell, Ben Beeckler and Floyd Pietenpol.
