Neillsville and Owen (Receive Donations - 1960)
Two gifts totaling $1,500 to the Clark County special schools at Neillsville, and Owen, were revealed Christmas eve by County School Supt. Leonard Morley.
A gift of $1,000 was from the Thorp Finance Corporation, and one of $500 from the Francis Conway Foundation. The money will be used for the purchase of special equipment and supplies, Mr. Morley said.
The County’s special schools have been favored each year since their beginning by substantial gifts from both sources. Such equipment as school kitchens, sewing machines, audio-visual equipment, phonographic-radio combinations, power tools and special books have been purchased with these funds, and with donations from others.
The result has been to place the county special schools at Neillsville and Owen "among the best-equipped of any in Wisconsin," Mr. Morley said. "These donations, and the interest and spirit in which they are given are very important to the success of this worthy project," Mr. Morley said.
