Neillsville, Wisconsin Blood Drive (January 1961)
One hundred sixty-five pints are needed for the blood gathering scheduled for Neillsville High School January 9, 1961, from 2 to 7 p.m.
"In order to make the quota," said Mrs. Joseph Ylvisaker, "at least 220 signers are required." This is the first visit to Clark County of 1961. There will be eight, with a total quota of 993 pints. Blood gatherings will be carried out in all sections of the county during the year.
"We always need donors of negative blood," continued Mrs. Ylvisaker, "regardless of whether they belong to group A, B. AB or O. Because the derivative supply is adequate at present, we are not accepting donors who have had jaundice."
Mrs. John Schiesel is chairman of the Neillsville Blood Drive. Mrs. Lawrence Helwig, R. N. is in charge of services: Mrs. Harris Schoengarth and Mrs. Roland Jenni, co-chairman of recruiting; Mrs. John Perkins, canteen; and Mrs. Ylvisaker, publicity.
If the reader lives in any of the 33 Wisconsin counties outside of the Milwaukee area which are enrolled in the Red Cross blood program, Mrs. Ylvisaker explained, needed blood will be furnished free by Red Cross. This includes Clark County.
"If you receive it in a distant hospital, please notify your local Red Cross Chapter, so it may be replaced," Mrs. Ylvisaker said.
Volunteers are asked to call SHerwood 3-2789 or SHerwood 3-3938 for an appointment.
