Loughlin, Stanley P. (7 MAY 1877 - 16 APR 1948)

Last Rites for S.P. Loughlin Held Wednesday

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the St. Agnes Catholic Church for Stanley P. Loughlin, who passed away Friday. Father Healy read the requiem mass.

Rosary was said at the church Tuesday evening by the members of the Altar Society of the St. Agnes Church. He had been a member of the parish here for about five years.

The choir sang four hymns, Come Hold Ghost, Mother Dear O Pray for Me; Jesus, My Lord, and Sweet Savior Bless Us.

Following the services the body was taken to Grand Forks for burial in the Calvary cemetery. Graveside services were conducted by Father Healy.

Active pall bearers were Tuel Etzell, Arnold Tetzloff, Carol Anderson, Walter Korup, Hal Sigurdson and Oscar Korup. Honorary pall bearers were Art Prestbo, Arthur; Erick Gisvold, Galesburg; Walter Jorgensen, Earl Amel, Peter Beringer, Albert Bratholt, and Ralph Fralish.

Stanley P. Loughlin was born May 7, 1887, at Custer, Wisconsin and lived for a time at Dorchester, Wisconsin. In March 1912, he married Arlene Lindeman in Minneapolis, and they came to North Dakota in August that year. Mr. Loughlin was section foreman for the Great Northern 29 years, he began working at McCanna. He moved from Niagara to Hunter in September 1943.

Mr. Loughlin died suddenly while on duty, having just unlocked the switch and stepped back on the motor car when he suffered a stroke from which he passed away in the early forenoon, Friday.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters, (Gertrude) Mrs. Oscar Hall of Grand Forks, (Lillian) Mrs. Thorvald Baarstad of Bremerton, Washington and (Norma) Mrs. Walter Miller of Rainier, Oregon; four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Kronschnabl of Crandon, Wisconsin, Mrs. Andrew Marks of Marshfield, Wisconsin and Mrs. Ruth Scheel and Mrs. John Donhard both of Madison, Wisconsin; three brothers, Dr. J. T. Loughlin of Gray Eagle, Minn., Dan of Queensland, Australia, and Edward of Boston, Massachusetts; four granddaughters and 3 grandsons, all of whom attended the services except his brothers Dan and Edward and the grandsons. In addition to the above listed relatives who attended were Mr. Marks, and Mrs. J.T. Loughlin; Mrs. John Kronschnabl, of Crandon, Wisc.; Oscar Hall; and Mrs. William Boness of Racine, Wisconsin and Albert Lindeman of Gardena, N.D., sister and brother of Mrs. Loughlin.

Friends of the deceased of Grand Forks who attended the graveside services were Richard Dawson, Mrs. Ralph Smith, Mrs. Gesner and Lawrence Matcha; and Mrs. Amel and Mrs. Prete.

Mr. Loughlin was a member of Railroad Employees Brotherhood Union and of the Veterans Association of the Great Northern Railway.

Stanley Loughlin Interred Today at Hunter, N.Dak.

Funeral services for Stanley Loughlin, who died suddenly April 16 at his home in Hunter, N.D., were held there Wednesday and burial was in a Grand Forks, J.D., cemetery.

Mr. Loughlin, who came to Dorchester at the age of 13 (1900), moved to North Dakota soon after his marriage here to the former Miss Lena Lindemanm and had resided there since. He had been foreman of a railroad maintenance crew there, and was nearing retirement age at the time of his death. His parents lived on the farm now owned by Clarence Gonnering.

Survivors include his widow, three children, seven grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Kronschnabl, Crandon; Mrs. Mina Marks, Marshfield; Mrs. Ruth Scheel, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Jennie Donhart, Madison; and three brothers, Dr. John Loughlin, in Minnesota; Dan Loughlin, and Edwin Loughlin.
