R. E. A. (30 September 1937)

The contract for building the 102 mile transmission line from Chippewa Falls to our substation on Highway N in Sec. 8, Town of Longwood, and just south of Spokeville was awarded on Sept. 21, for $135,606.80 or an average of $1,329.47 per mile, including substations.  This line is to be completed by Dec. 1, 1937 according to the agreement.

Next week, the contract is to be awarded for the building to house plant.  In regard to our project within the county, the problem of where the lines are being run is the big one.  Now, more and more farmers want the line, but our allotment only covers 690 miles.  As the government is taking no security against the farms, it is concerned about the income, hence wants to put the lines where there are the best prospects.  This is an engineering problem that is being handled by the government.
