Richard "Dick" Druschke, 75, Glidden, died on Friday, May 10, 2002. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glidden.

Richard Druschke was born on Sept. 2, 1926, in Glidden, to Richard and Bertha (nee Schwilk) Druschke. He graduated from Glidden High School in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army, serving in the Philippines during World War ll. He returned to Glidden and worked at Schraufnagel Lumber Co. He married Jean Eineichner on Aug. 21, 1949, in Milwaukee. They moved to Glidden and purchased the Rexall Store and became owners and operators of Druschke’s Store until 1989. He was a relief mail carrier for 24 years, then full-time carrier for four years. He was a Gildden school bus driver for 12 years. He organized and coached Little League baseball, coached junior high basketball at the Most Precious Blood School, coached city team baseball. And was the secretary for the Upper 13 Baseball League for many years. He did various community work, including lawnmowing, shoveling snow and other volunteer work. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a loyal Chicago Cubs fan. His interests included traveling, dancing and family gatherings.

Survivors include his wife, Jean; five children, Richard "Scoop" (Sue) Druschke, Valders, Tim (Jeanne) Druschke, Eagle River, Mike (Julie) Druschke, Torrence, Calif., Suzie Druschke, Grand Canyon, Ariz., and Joe Druschke, Milwaukee; five grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Mahnke, Milwaukee, Dorothy (Vernon) Rein, Glidden, and Shirley (Ted) Lawver, Glidden; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Kenneth, and four sisters, Alice, Clara, Florence and Caroline.
