Davel, Mr./Mrs. Albert (Gold - 31 AUG 1952)

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Davel celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their home in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), Sunday, Aug. 31, 1952.

Their children, eleven in number, sons and daughters-in-law, had arrived at the Davel home by Saturday afternoon, and the festivities began with a family dinner Saturday evening.

Sunday morning they attended church in a family group, and the Rev. Norbert King pronounced a special jubilee blessing for Mr. and Mrs. Davel and family before the high mass.

Upon their return from church a family breakfast was served.  At one o’clock a dinner was served in the church basement to the immediate family and other relatives.  Over 50 were served at this dinner.  Following the meal many gifts were presented to Mr. and Mrs. Davel.  The children’s gifts for their parents were a beautiful wrist watch for each.  The center piece for the dinner was a wedding cake appropriately decorated for the Gold Wedding celebration.  The cake was the gift of one of the son-in-law.  Bouquets of garden flowers also decorated the tables.

Open house was observed by the Davel’s from 3 to 5 and many friends called to offer congratulations and good wishes.

One of the highlights of the day for Mr. and Mrs. Davel was a telephone call from the oldest two of their grandchildren, Corp. Ronald Davel and a/3c Jimmie Davel.  Both are stationed in California and were spending the day together.

In the flowing list of names of the family present, the given name of each married daughter of the Davels follows in parentheses, the given name of the husband; Mrs. Fred (Evelyn) Nolan, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Davel, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Scott (Marie) Canney and children, Algoma; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. (Gertrude) Phair and Mary Beth, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davel and children, Evansville, Ind.; Martina Davel, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Lucian (Madeline) Krawczyk, Pulaski; Mr. and Mrs. James (Kathryn) Babb and son, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Davel and children, Loyal; Mrs. William (Jayne) Simpson, Minneapolis; and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Schmook, Madison.  Other out of town relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. Charles McCormick, St. Louis Park, Minn.; Mrs. Lu Gustaffson, Mr. and Mrs. James Baker and son Dick, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hoeft and children, Minneapolis; and Mr. and Mrs. George Davel, Stratford.
