Hmielak, Helen (20 April 1908 - 29 November 1986)
Helen Hmielak, 78, 414 E. Stanley St. Thorp, WI, died Saturday, November 29, 1986 at Victory Memorial Nursing home, Stanley, where she had resided for the past week.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 1986 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, with the Rev. John Puerner officiating. Burial was in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were five grandsons and Lennie Lipinski.
She was born April 20, 1908 at Thorp to Jacob and Joanna Sniegowski. She was married to John Hmielak October 11, 1932, at St. Hedwig’s Church, Thorp. They lived and farmed in the Thorp area until 1966 when they moved to the City of Thorp.
Surviving are two sons, Robert of Thorp and Ray of Larkspur, Colorado; three daughters, Jo Hokkanen, of Wauwatosa, Pat Maertens of St. Paul, MN and Jane Zdroik of Rosholt; five brothers, Stanley, Chet and Erwin all of Thorp, Joe of Mosinee and Florian of Withee; two sisters, Alice Ciolkosz of Thorp and Jean Koltis of Owen; 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
