Leu, Lonnie  (08 DEC 1961-07 MAR 2002)

 

Lonnie Leu Sr., 40, Medford, died on Thursday, March 7, 2002, in the town of Spirit, Price County, of injuries sustained in a snowmobile accident. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford. The Rev. Dennis Meulemans officiated. Burial was in the Stetsonville Catholic Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Viegut, Seth Erickson and Kevin Michlig. Pallbearers were Darrin Hoernke, Sam Guralski, Jeff Mauch, Jeff Dahl, Mike Weiler, Jeff Eisner Jr., and Craig Kramas.

 

Lonnie A Leu was born on Dec. 8, 1961, in Marshfield, to Duane R. and Helen V. (nee Apfelbeck) Leu. He attended Abbotsford schools and graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1980. He married Lisa M. Godersky on Aug. 19, 1982, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville. Following his education, he worked at Ron’s Deep Rock, Abbotsford. He started working for Hurd Millwork, Medford, in 1981. He worked there as a truck driver shuttling semi trailers until the time of his death. He and his family established Lonnie Leu Racing and he was active in stock car dirt track racing.

 

His interests included the outdoors and hunting and fishing. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Northwoods Archers and the Wissota Racing Association.

 

Survivors include his wife, Lisa M. Leu, Medford; two sons, Lonnie A. Leu Jr., and Leslie Aaron Leu, both at home. His parents, Duane "Butch" and Helen Leu, Abbotsford; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Violet and Richard Godersky, Juneau; one sister, Lisa (Allan) Eisner, Rib Lake; three brothers, Duane (Kristina) Leu, Colby, Lance (Jodi) Leu, Medford, and Linc Leu, Abbotsford; and 11 nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding him in death was one son, Landyn, in infancy in 1992.

 

Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, assisted the family with arrangements.
