Evert A. "Zim" Zimmerman, 91, Janesville, died on Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Rush-Copley Hospital, Aurora, Ill. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, July 8, at Cargill United Methodist Church, Janesville. The Rev. J. D. McCarty officiated. Burial was in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.

 

Evert Zimmerman was born on Nov. 2, 1910, in Augusta, to Carl and Amelia (nee Kraus) Zimmerman. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1927. He married June Peckham on June 1, 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War ll in England and Norway. He worked for General Motors from 1928-48. He then worked at the Janesville post office as a postal clerk until retiring in 1973. He was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church and a life member of Kienow-Hilt VFW Post #1621. His interests included golf, bowling, playing cards and tennis.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Carole (Robert) Shaffer, Oswego, Ill., and JoAnne (Raymond Robert) Lucas, Saudi Arabia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl A. Zimmerman, Augusta; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Paddock, Osseo.

 

Preceding him in death were his wife, June, in June 1967; his parents; and two sisters, Irene Paddock and Lucille Zimmerman

 

Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville, assisted the family with arrangements.
