Apfelbeck, Helen V. #2 (28 DEC 1960)
Mr. and Mrs. Duane Leu are making their home in Abbotsford (Clark Co., Wis.), where Mr. Leu is employed as truck driver for Deming Trucking Service.
The marriage of Miss Helen Veronica Apfelbeck and Duane Roger Leu took place Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. The Rev. James Stauber officiated at the ceremony which preceded the nuptial high mass.
Parents of the bridal couple are Carl Apfelbeck, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Leu, Abbotsford.
The bride wore a floor length gown of white satin and lace with long sleeves and a bateau neckline. A pearl and lace crown held her fingertip veil. Garnet roses, red poinsettia and holly foliage were fashioned in an open lace heart design for the bride’s bouquet.
The holiday motif was repeated in the ensembles of the bride’s attendants. They wore ballerina length velvet frocks, white fur bandeaus and carried white muffs to which a corsage of red carnations was pinned.
Mrs. Ray Boneske, Athens, matron of honor, was attired in green, and Miss Dorothy Apfelbeck, Colby, and Miss Bernadine Schreiner, Edgar, bridesmaids, wore red.
Miss Pammie Weber, Colby, the flower girl, was dressed like the bride and carried garnet roses and chrysanthemums in a bouquet like the bride’s.
Mrs. Leu, mother of the groom, wore a green dress with figured jacket and black accessories. She wore a shoulder corsage of pink garnet roses.
Ray Apfelbeck, Colby, was best man. Robert Apfelbeck, Colby, and Jerry Bargenquast, Abbotsfrod, were the groomsmen; Carl Hardrath, Jr., Colby, and Gene Leu, Abbotsford, and Andrew Apfelbeck, Stetsonville, ushered.
The wedding dinner and supper were served at St. Mary’s School gymnasium and the reception was held at Cherokee Hall.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Leu greeted friends at a wedding dance at Memorial Hall at Dorchester in the evening.
The bride attended Colby High School and was employed by Standard Container at Edgar. The groom attended Abbotsford High School.
