Happe, Wesley (9 December 1916 - 24 August 1938)
This community was greatly shocked to hear of the sudden death of Wesley Happe, Ripon, on Wednesday night, August 24th. Wesley was killed almost instantly as his car was struck by a car which failed to stop upon crossing a main highway.
Wesly Happe was born December 9th, 1916 and lived most of his life in this community, Town of Fremont. He attended the Cozy Corner rural school here. After his graduation with the class of 1934 of the Granton High School, he entered the Neillsville Teachers Training Class. He taught school at Stanley for two and one-half years and this last June, he with his sister, Lucille, who taught the Wild Rose School, joined their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Happe Sr. and brother, Arthur Jr. at Ripon where they moved from this community in April. He has a second brother, Oliver who resides at Chili.
The funeral services were conducted from the Ripon Evangelical Church, Sunday afternoon. About fifty relatives and friends from the Town of Fremont attended the funeral.
Wesley was well liked by all who knew him. He was very active in church work in the Evangelical church in Ripon.
The sympathy of this community goes to his grief stricken parents, brother and sister at Ripon and his brother at Chili.
