A Man Killed at Greenwood During the Storm on Monday
A report comes from Greenwood that during the heavy storm on Monday lightning killed a cabinet-maker named Dor Bailey, while at work in his shop in that city. It appears that Bailey was in the shop alone at the time of being struck by the bolt, and when discovered by another workman he was dead. The bolt struck him in the top of the head and there was the only mark on him.
During the storm the same day lightning struck the house occupied by Jas. Morrow in this city. (Marshfield) The bolt first struck the chimney which was torn considerably, then it passed down and out no one knows where, damaging nothing except the stovepipe in the second story. The people in the house received quite a shock.
