Vivoda, George #2 (1 March 1882 - 13 February 1954)

 

George Vivoda, 71, born March 1, 1882 in Austria, passed away February 13, at Alexian Brothers Sanatorium, Oshkosh, after suffering from a lingering illness.

 

At the age of sixteen he came to the United States working his way until he settled in Chicago, where he was married to Mary Kotzian in 1907.  To this union were born four sons, George, Jr., of Elmwood, Wisconsin; Frank of Chicago, Illinois; Joseph of Berwyn, Illinois, and Henry of Appleton, Wis.

 

In 1914 he purchased land five miles west of Greenwood which he and his family cleared and made into a farm. After his wife passed away in 1947 he retired and moved to the city of Greenwood and purchased a home where he lived until his illness.  Mr. Vivoda was well known in Loyal having often visited here.

 

Surviving are his four sons, four daughters-in-law and five grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 16, 1954, at two o’clock at the Schiller Funeral Home in Greenwood.
