Loppnow, Mr. and Mrs. William (55th - 28 February 1954)
55 years together - This past Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. William Loppnow observed their 55th wedding anniversary at their home here in Loyal when friends surprised them with a party. The honored couple were married on Tuesday, (Bill still remembers the day), February 28, 1899 at Hartford, Wisconsin. They came to this county in March 1904, and settled in the Town of Beaver where they farmed for six years. From there they moved to another farm in the Town of Eaton, three miles west of Loyal where they remained until 1915. They moved to Loyal at that time and have been here since. Bill is well known hereabouts having been the village and city assessor for a total of 27 years, something of a record in itself. He has declined to run again at the forthcoming election, feeling that he has served his time in public office.
