Weideman, Dennis (16 NOV 1951 - 25 JUN 1961)

Funeral services were had Wednesday for Dennis Weideman, nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Weideman of Abbotsford, route one, whose death occurred accidentally Sunday afternoon when struck by a car on Highway 29, three miles east of Abbotsford.

A private service for the family was conducted at 10 o’clock at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, after which the body was taken to Christ Lutheran Church.  The Rev. F. H. Sprengler conducted services at 2 o’clock and interment followed in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Classmates served as pallbearers.  They were Dennis Melvin, Bot Wittkamp, Jeffrey Lindau, Dennis Manthe, James Nikolay and Dale Buchholz.

The flowers were carried by the Misses Nancy and Jenny Weideman, Carla Peterson, Debby Scidmore, Beverly Underwood and Linda Dorn.

The mishap which caused the death of Dennis occurred about 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon when he and his twin brother, Donald, were returning home on their bicycles after playing ball at the Aschle Melvin place.  They were riding in the lane of oncoming traffic when Dennis rode his bicycle directly into the path of a car driven by Mathew Kaseman of Eau Claire.  The twin brother moved to the shoulder of the road and was not hurt.

Coroner Lambert said there were no witnesses to the accident other than the driver and the twin brother, who gave identical reports.

Dennis was born in the town of Holton Nov. 16, 1951, and had completed the fourth grade at the Abbotsford schools.

Surviving him, besides his parents and twin brother are two other brothers, Alfred, 16, and Roger, 4, and a sister, Judy, 13; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Mueller; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. August Weideman, both of Abbotsford.
