Wallace "Wayne" Cattanach, 90, Marshfield, died on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Ministry Sailt Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. A memorial service was held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Calvary Bible Church, Marshfield.
Wayne Cattanach was born on May 26, 1920, in the town of Rock, the son of Raymond and Freda (nee Knapton) Cattanach. He graduated from Marshfield high School in 1939. He served in the City Point CCC from 1940-1942. From January 1943 to December 1945, he served in the U.S. Army-Air Force and proudly served as a sergeant in World War ll in the Pacific. He returned to Wisconsin and dairy farmed in the town of Rock for more than 40 years. He married Dorothy Neumann on Jan. 6, 1945. He was married to Ruth Kier (1973), Lorraine Braun (1976), Margaret O’Hearn (1988), and Frances Drescher (2008). He was a long time member and past deacon of the Calvary Bible Church in Marshfield. He was the former leader of the Calvary Bible Church Awana Club, a 4-H leader in Lindsey, an ASCS Committee member, a former school board member of Hillcrest School, and a town of Rock board member for 45 years. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 153 in Pittsville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed a good book and cherished reunions with family members.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Frances; six children, Allan (Nancy) Cattanach, Fargo, N.D., Thomas (Joann) Cattanach, Yuma, Ariz., Kathleen (Charlie) Weiland, Spencer, David (Janice) Cattanach, Marshfield, Norman Cattanach, Fargo, N.D., and Brian (Sue) Cattanach, Fargo, N.D.; one stepson, Phil (Angels) Kier, Cottage Grove; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lyle (Maxine) Cattanach; two sisters, Margaret(Vernon) Piguet and Inez (Irving) Halvorson; as well as many other family and friends. He will truly be missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Raymond and Freda; one brother, Craig Cattanach; and one grandson, Kinzie.
