Shupe, Joan (06 NOV 1936-15 FEB 2003)
Joan M. Shupe, 66, Marshfield, died on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit, Marshfield. Visitation will be for one hour prior to a 10:30 a.m. memorial service on Thursday, Feb. 20. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Charles D. Stoetzel will officiate. Music will be provided by Suzanne Golden, organist, and the St. John’s Funeral Choir.
Joan M. Nelson was born on Nov. 6, 1936, in Marshfield, to William and Rose (nee Hauser) Nelson. She attended grade school in Marshfield and Colby High School. She married Jerome Shupe on Dec. 28, 1955, in Neillsville. She worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory and J.C. Penney, Marshfield. Her interests included spending time with her family.
Survivors include seven children, Ann (Tom) Burns, Eau Claire, Pam Djubenski, Mondovi, Donna Elsinger, Stanley, Daniel Shupe, Granton, Randall (April) Shupe, Eau Claire, Katherine Ganong, Black River Falls, and Stella (Kevin) Steinke, Osseo; 18 grandchildren, Brad, Brian and Heidi Govek, Johnathon, Michael and Steven Djubenski, Jamie Shupe, Darren Elsinger, Jared Shupe, Travis Shupe, Erica, Ashley and Miranda Ganong, Briyyany and Brandon Lucas, and Dylin and Riley Steinke; one great-grandson, Dominie Djubenski; two brothers, Larry (Linda) Nelson, Flippen, Ark.; and Paul (Waneta) Nelson, California; and four sisters, Shirley Bray, Pittsville, Elaine (Jay)Townsend, Janesville, Patricia (Donald) Roever, Mountain Home, Ark., and Kathleen Shafer, Pittsville.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one grandson, Christopher Djubenski; and two brothers, Richard Nelson and Robert Nelson.
Rembs/Kudinger Funeral Home, Marshfield, is assisting the family with arrangements.
