Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Shefchik 74, Barstow, Calif, died Sunday, May 9, 2004. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 14, at the Masonic Lodge, Barstow, Calif. Private burial was held at Riverside National Cemetery.
Lawrence Joseph Shefchik graduated from Loyal High School in 1947. He served in the Marines during the Korean War for five years. He worked for Union Pacific and Santa Fe Railroad in Barstow, Yemo, and San Bernardino, Calif., for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #682 in Barstow for 20 years and a member of Calvary Chapel in Barstow for four years. His interests included woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Shefchik, Barstow, Calif.; his daughters, Karen St. Andrews, Rialto, Calif., Linda Blake, Carson City, Nev., and Ruth Ann (Jerry) Shefchik, Barstow, Calif.\.; his sons, Michael (Mary) Shefchik, Wrightwood, Calif., and Lawrence Jr. (Tracy) Shefchik, Barstow, Calif.; his brothers, Edward Shefchik, Wilmington, N.C., Richard (Diann) Shefchik, Marshfield, Raymond (Ruth) Shefchik, Kenosha, and J.R. (Sue) Shefchik, Cedarburg; his sister, Angie (Daryl) Gregory, Medford, Eleanor (Jack) Welch, Moorcroft, Wyo., Jean (Leroy) Menehan, Racine, and Joan (Dave) Abbott, Carroll, Ill.; his sister-in-laws Mary (Elmer) Shefchik, Kenosha, Barbara Williams, Grangeville, Ohio, and Linda Helmig, Barstow, Calif.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Emil and Hildegard Shefchik and one brother, Elmer.
