GREENWOOD -- Jon H. Hanson, 76, of Greenwood, died Jan. 25,
2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in
Marshfield.
Funeral
services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church,
Greenwood. Burial of cremains will take place in the Greenwood City
Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from noon until time
of service Friday at the
church.
Jon
Herbert Hanson was born Nov. 9, 1934, in La Crosse, the son of
William O. and Mildred (Weiland) Hanson. While in high school, Jon
joined the U.S. Navy Reserves and later was called into active duty
with the Navy for three
years.
He was
united in marriage to Nancy Heisel on May 6, 1961, in Valley, Wis.
Jon taught for some time in Bangor, Trempealeau, at La Crosse
Lincoln, and finally moved to Greenwood in 1965, teaching at the
junior and senior high school. He retired from the Navy Reserves in
1966. In 1973, Jon entered the Wisconsin Army National Guard and
remained in the guard until retiring in 1989. During his time in
the guard, Jon occasionally taught at the Wisconsin Military
Academy at Camp
Douglas.
He is
survived by his wife, Nancy, of Greenwood; his children, Sheila
(Mark) Christophersen of Withee, Dana Cramer of Greenwood, Paul
Hanson of Greenwood; six grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Mary)
Hanson of La Crosse and William P. (Joannie) Hanson of Menifee,
Calif.; and two sisters, Janice Stoltz of Dodgeville and Nancy
(Ken) Jandt of Mesa,
Ariz.
