Taylor, Joan (Marriage - 18 September 1954)

The marriage of Miss Joan Taylor and Leander E. Kirsch took place September 18^th in St. Victors Catholic Church in Monroe.  Rev. Richard Schlaefer performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Meyer of Loyal, wore a white pure silk hand-embroidered eyelet gown featuring an off the shoulder V neckline and long sleeves with fly away cuffs edged in tiny pearls.  The gown was fashioned with a ballerina skirt.

Her veil of nylon illusion fell from a cloche hat of matching material edged with flower design of pearls. She carried a white prayer book, a gift of the bridegroom, topped with a green-throat orchid. 

Sister M. Thomas Aquinas was at the organ and Miss Billie Ann Wenger sang the mass and nuptial music accompanied by the church choir.

Miss Gertrude Zimmerman and Miss Donna Henne were maid-of-honor and bridesmaid.  Miss Zimmerman wore a cocoa brown ballerina gown of iridescent taffeta princess style with cap sleeves and a V neckline.  Miss Henne wore a gown identical to that to the maid-of-honor in the same color.  Both carried cascade bouquets of gold and bronze chrysanthemums.

Roland Kirsch served his brother as bestman and William Meyer, step-brother of the bride, was the groomsman for the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kirsch, Stratford.

Mrs. Meyer wore a slate blue crepe dress with navy accessories and a corsage of white carnations and silver ribbon. The bridegroom’s mother chose a rust dress with black accessories and a corsage of gold carnations and black ribbon.

A dinner was served at the Monroe Country Club, where the reception was held that afternoon for 225 guests.

When the couple left on a trip to Canada the new Mrs. Kirsch was wearing a navy dress with platinum accessories.  Upon their return they will make their home at 1115-20^th Avenue, Monroe.

The bride is a graduate of Loyal High School and St. Joseph’s School of Medical Technology, Marshfield.  She is now a laboratory technician at the Monroe Clinic.  Her husband is a graduate of Stratford High School and the University of Wisconsin and is now associated with the Bowman Dairy Co.
