King, Conrad Sr. ( 11 APR 1874-22 JAN 1953)

 

Conrad King Sr., 78, died unexpectedly Friday afternoon in St. Anthony’s rectory, where he made his home with his son, the Rev. N. E. King.

 

Mr. King was born April 11, 1874, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He moved to Edgar with his parents when a small child. The family lived on a farm in the Town of Cassel where he made his home for 60 years. For a few years he lived in Wausau, and for the past several years he had made his home with Father King.

 

His marriage to the former Theresa Lindenmeyer took place Nov. 4. 1901, in St. John’s Church, Edgar.

 

A Solemn Requiem Mass was read at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony’s Church. That afternoon the body was taken to the Edgar Funeral Home, where at 10 a.m. Tuesday another Solemn Requiem Mass was read in St. John’s Church. Burial was made in St. John’s cemetery.

 

Pallbearers at the services here Monday were Max Langfeldt, Raphael Haas, James Bertz, Albert Davel, James Christenson and Leo Degenhardt. The Holy Name Society attended in a body.

 

Mr. King is survived by his wife, five sons, George, Edgar, Alex, Athens, the Rev. Fr. King, Loyal, Conrad Jr., Edgar, and Clarence, Madison; five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Cecelia) Schlichte, Wausau, Mrs. Claire (Marcella) Richardson and Miss Betty King, Milwaukee, Mrs. Bernard (Cornelia) Zenna, Elroy, and Mrs. Marvin (Clara) Arndt, Rothchild; 25 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Victoria Welsh, Wausau.

 

Three children, Richard, Lorena, and Verna, and six brothers, and four sisters preceded him in death.
