Tischendorf, Gladys (28 OCT 1961)

 

Miss Gladys Marie Tischendorf, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tischendorf of Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.), and Robert F. Hargraves, the son of Mrs. Magdalena Hargraves of Athens, exchanged marriage vows Saturday, Oct. 28, 1961, at the United Church of Christ, Athens.  The Rev. Victor Grosshuesch performed the ceremony at 1:30 o’clock.

 

The bride wore a floor length gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle.  The molded lace bodice was designed with long sleeves and a scalloped neckline embroidered with sequins.  The bouffant skirt of nylon tulle was highlighted with two bands of border lace sparking with sequins in the front and back.  A crown of aurora crystals and rhinestones held her scallop edged veil of English illusion.  She carried a cascade arrangement of red roses and white carnations entwined with ivy and tiny rosebud streamers.

 

Attendants at the wedding were Miss Dorothy Tischendorf of Dorchester as maid of honor, and Leonard ?auske (first part of name unreadable) of Athens as best man.  Other attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Norman Berger of Medford, Mr. and Mrs. George Hargraves of Athens and Mr. and Mrs. Clement Hargraves of Marshfield.

 

The bridal aides were attired in street length dresses of nylon over taffeta with scoop necklines, softly draped bodices, and waistlines accented by scrolls of sequins and rhinestones above softly pleated skirts.  Matching crowns with nose veils and cascade bouquets of white and dyed-to-match carnations completed their ensembles.  Blue was chosen for the maid of honor, yellow, Nile green, and orchid for the bridesmaids.

 

During the ceremony, Mrs. Henry Diedrich sang "Today, O Lord" and Mrs. Diedrich and Mrs. Clifford Wicker sang "O Perfect Love" as a duet.  Mrs. Herman Bunke was organist and accompanist.

 

Following the ceremony, a reception was hled at the home of the groom, and dinner was served to about 100 guests.  In the evening, the young couple greeted friends at a dance at the …(the rest of my copy was cut off)
