Koehler, Diann (12 NOV 1961)
Miss Diann Koehler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Koehler, and Larry Empey, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Empey, all of Abbotsford, exchanged marriage vows at Christ Lutheran Church Sunday afternoon, Nov. 12, 1961, at 2 o’clock. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler performed the double ring ceremony, during which Miss Dorothy Kieser and Mrs. Weldon Brown Jr. sang "O Perfect Love" and "Lord, Who at Cana’s Wedding Feast." Baskets of mums and gladioli graced the altar for the occasion.
Mr. Koehler presented his daughter in marriage.
The bride wore a gown of French lace over satin designed with long sleeves that came to points over the wrists and a square neckline outlined with sequins. The floor length skirt was detailed with ruffles of lace and net in the back. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown of pearls and rhinestones. She carried a bouquet made with a cross of red roses outlined with white mums.
Mrs. Dorothy Buchholz of Osmond, Neb., was the matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Patricia Leahy of Abbotsford and Mrs. Beverly Zuliger of Medford.
The attendants wore frocks of nylon taffeta designed alike with draped necklines and bows in the back. Olive green was chosen for the matron of honor and gold for the bridesmaids. They carried colonial bouquets of bronze mums.
George R. Empey was best man and Gary Koehler and Allen Empey were groomsmen. Kenneth Wilhelmi and Ricky Koehler seated the guests at the church.
To her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Koehler wore a light blue brocaded sheath dress with black accessories. Mrs. Empey wore a dark brown ensemble with tan accessories.. Both mothers had corsages of bronze mums. A corsage of pink and white carnations was worn by Mrs. George Empey, grandmother of the groom.
About 200 guests attended the wedding reception held at the Holton Town Hall and the 4 o’clock supper served in the church basement. In the evening, a wedding dance was held at Memorial Hall, Dorchester.
Mr. and Mrs. Empey left on a honeymoon trip to southern Wisconsin and on their return will live in rural Abbotsford.
Guests at the wedding came from Loyal, Medford, Dorchester, Colby, Spencer, Unity, Stetsonville, Milan, Wis., and Norfolk, Pierce and Osmond, Neb.
