Poppe, Robert Ernest (14 August 1907 - 3 January 1961)

 

Funeral services for Mr. Poppe were held January 6, from the Hoepner & Kraut Funeral Home in Owen, with the Rev. Donaldson of Menomonie in charge.  Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

 

Mr. Poppe died January 3, in a hospital in Menomonie as the result of a liver ailment.

 

Pallbearers were: Donald Poppe, Ed Miller, Bernard Poppe, Norbert Bruckert, Charles Nietzel and Walter Emerson. In charge of the flowers were: Mrs. Opal Mortenson, Mrs. Delia Gay, Mrs. Doreen Poppe, and Mrs. Barbara Emerson.

 

A native of Clark County, he was born August 14, 1907, in the Town of Longwood and was married to Violet Henderson in Thorp on November 22, 1930.  They farmed in the Town of Longwood for a number of years, then, they operated a tavern in Withee for several years until his health failed. 

 

In addition to mrs. Poppe, who lives in Owen, he is survived by six children: Robert of (undeciphered), Calif., Daniel of Withee, Richard of Abbotsford, Jack of Columbus, O., Mrs. Janet Zaborowski of Owen, and Mrs. Carl (Beverly) Sillanpaa of rural Owen and also surviving are 11 grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Bernice Glover of Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Celia Bolt of Kalispell, Mont., and Mrs. Hazel Strickland of Hollister, Calif.
