Paananen, Anna (1 JAN 1877 - 14 January 1961)

Mrs. Anna Paananen, 84, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield January 14, of old age complications.

Born in Finland, she came to this country and settled in Tampa, Fla., in 1905.  In 1909 she moved to Negaunee, Mich., where on June 7, 1912 she married Leander Paananen.  They came to Sheldon in 1915, where they farmed until 1945.  They moved to Owen, where her husband was accidentally killed in a fall on June 10, 1944.

The Panananen’s had a daughter who married and had one son.  The daughter died and the grandparents raised the son, now Richard Mills of Rt. 1 Waupun.  There are three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Paananen lived at the Woodland Hotel in Owen until her illness required hospitalization.

Funeral services were conducted January 16 from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Owen, with the Rev. Karl G. Wilkman in charge.  Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.
