Withee, Wisconsin (2 February 1961)
The Withee Homemakers met January 23, in the home economics room of the junior high school, with Mrs. James Barager as leader. The project was, "Youth, our Future Citizens." A lunch was served by Mrs. George Pauley and Mrs. Barager.
The Misses Jacqueline and Barbara Fritsch spent the semester break at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kelch of Wausau called on his sister, Mrs. Elva Mertens, recently.
Mr. and Mrs. William Fisher and two daughters, Cheryl and Denice of Minneapolis, Minn., visited from Friday until Sunday at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Frost.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Woodburn of St. Paul, Minn., and two children visited Dr. Woodburn’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vater, at the Havenet Home in Owen, and with other relatives in the Withee vicinity January 22.
Ed Wendt, Jr. spent several days recently with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Wendt, SR. He attends school in Madison.
Roger Miller, a student at Stevens Point, spent the mid-semester break at home. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Miller of Frenchtown. He returned Monday.
The MYF of the Methodist Church met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Myron Fritsch January 23. Lunch was served by Jackie Fritsch.
Robert Erickson of Carey, Ill., visited his grandmother, Mrs. William Tisdale, last weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hoffemiester of Milwaukee visited Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blazier last weekend.
Joseph Mazolowiki perished in a fire that destroyed his home on Main Street in Lublin Monday, January 23, in the early morning hours. He lived alone in the house.
At the January 23 meeting of the Lion’s club and Businessmen’s club, the Science teacher, Eugene Brown of the Owen school, gave a talk on "Atomic Fallout," and a film on the early experiences of atom bomb fallout. He showed a Geiger counter. Following this the Businessmen’s club showed a film, "A Town Comes to Life," which had as its theme helping to promote general industry in the community. A dinner was served at the beginning of the meeting. Mrs. Bernard Auberg underwent surgery in a Marshfield hospital January 25.
