Umhoefer, Anton X. #2 (17 JAN 1886 - 24 FEB 1962)

Anton X. Umhoefer, 76, of Colby, died of a heart attack Saturday morning.  Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  The Rev. John B. Pinion sang the requiem high mass, after which burial was made in the Colby Cemetery.

Mr. Umhoefer was born Jan. 17, 1886 in Cherokee.  He was a lifelong resident of the Colby community and was active in community and church affairs.  He was postmaster at Colby from 1935 until his retirement in 1955.  For a period he served as president of the Wisconsin League of Postmasters.
