Madler, Joseph N. (22 April 1888 - 4 February 1961)

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Christ Lutheran Church in Chili for Joseph N., Madler, 72, who died Saturday in Owen, where he had been a hospital patient for two weeks. The Rev. Lawrence Schreiber officiated.  Burial was made in the Yolo Cemetery.

 

Mr. Madler was born April 22, 1888, in Bakerville.  He received his education in Clark County schools and resided in the area all his life.

 

On June 8 he was married in Neillsville to the former Gusta Schmidtke, who survives.

 

He was an employee of a laundry in Marshfield and was a cheesemaker before becoming a farmer.  He retired in 1957.

 

He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, and in 1960 Mr. and Mrs. Madler celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

 

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. George (Pauline) Bayer, Evergreen park, Ill.; a son, Stanley Madler, Marshfield; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
