Atteln, Frances (16 DEC 1857-17 FEB 1953)
Miss Frances Atteln, 95, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary Goethe at 4:30 A. M. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1953. Death came to Miss Atteln as the result of the complications of old age.
Funeral services were held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 9 A.M. Thursday (Today) with the Rev. Father Norbert King officiating. Burial was in the cemetery at Summit in Monroe County.
Frances Atteln was born at Eagle in Jefferson County, Dec. 16, 1857.
When a child of seven years she went with her parents to live on a farm in Monroe County. She received her education in the rural schools of that county.
For 20 years she lived in Sparta and about 22 years ago she came to make her home witth her sister.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Goethe. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Four nieces, Mrs. William Beaver, Loyal; Mrs. Elanore Bade, Minneapolis; Miss Margaret Atteln, La Crosse; and Mrs. Lauretta Donskey, Norwalk; also three nephews, John and Leonard Atteln, Norwalk; and Joseph Goethe, Watertown, survive her. During her years lived here Miss Atteln became "Aunt" Frances to many neighbors and friends.
