Neuenfeldt, William F. (3 September 1892 - 21 February 1961)

 

Funeral services were held last Friday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood for William F. Neuenfeldt, 68, former Greenwood and Loyal newspaper publisher, who died February 21, at his home in Greenwood.

 

The Rev. Edward E. Hartung, pastor of St. Mary’s, was in charge of the service. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were his four sons, Charles, James, Albert and Gerald; and two grandsons, John and Dennis Neuenfeldt.   Honorary pallbearers were members of the Greenwood Rotary Club, of which he was a member: Clifton Fonstad, Fred Hohl, Robert Ramin, Edward Bogdonovich, Palmer Vinger and Karl Paape.

 

A resident of Greenwood for the past 44 years, Mr. Neuenfeldt published the Greenwood Gleaner until 1944, when he was succeeded by his son, Albert, who continues in that capacity.  Until recently he had engaged in real estate sales.

 

Before coming to Greenwood, Mr. Neuenfeldt owned and edited the Loyal Tribune.

 

He was born September 3, 1892, in Marshfield, and was married there in January, 1913, to Mabel O’Connell, who survives. Also surviving are the four sons, Charles of Spencer, James of St. Paul, Albert and Gerald of Greenwood; a sister, Miss Anna Neuenfeldt of Chicago; and by 12 grandsons.

 

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of its Holy Name Society.

 

Relatives from away who attended he service included: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Neuenfeldt and family of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. James Neuenfeldt and Family of St. Paul; Dennis Neuenfeldt, a student at River Falls State College; Miss Anna Neuenfeldt, Chicago, Ill.; Miss Harriett O’Connell of Beaver Dam; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gauger of Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ebbe, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Steffeck and daughter, Shari, and Mrs. Martha Huetter, all of Marshfield.
