Nesbitt, James B. (16 December 1890 - 8 March 1961)

 

Masonic services were conducted Saturday from the Masonic Temple here for James B. Nesbitt, 70, of Neillsville, who died March 8.  The Rev. Frank B. Harcey, pastor of the United Church, officiated.  Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

 

Mr. Nesbitt was born December 16, 1890, in Ireland, where he was educated and where he farmed until 1912, when he came to the United States. He settled in Chicago, Ill., and worked for the transit company there until 1928, when the family moved onto a farm in the Town of York.  In 1951, he retired and moved to Neillsville.  He served as school clerk in the Oriole Hill School district for many years. 

 

On May 24, 1914, he was married to the former Catherine McLean in Chicago, Ill.

 

He was a member of the United Church, and of the Blue Lodge, No. 163, F & A M and the Neillsville Chapter, No. 60.

 

Mr. Nesbitt is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Mary Jane) Seif, Neillsville; and two sons, Alex of Elmhurst, Ill., and Martin of Clayton, N. M. Six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. William (Isobel) Scott, Toronto, Ont. Canada, and Mrs. Tom (Lillian) Dunn of New Kensington, Pa., also survive.

 

The Bergemann Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.  The Masonic rites were conducted by Milo Mabie.

 

Pallbearers were: Elmer Buddenhagen, Albert Holt, Dave Parry, Thaddeus Zajac, William Ruchaber and Joseph Zimmerman.

 

Two hymns, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Rock of Ages" were sung by Mrs. Robert D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

 

Out of town people here for the services were: Alex Nesbitt, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Art Reddick, Chicago, Ill.; Bill Seif, Rockford, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Olson, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Sherren and Mrs. Ratsch, Greenwood; and Mrs. Ray Mortimer.
