Brown, George A. (10 JUL 1886 - 1 SEP 1962)
Funeral services for George A. Brown, 77, who died Saturday, Sept. 1, 1962, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the First Presbyterian Church, Abbotsford, where the body was taken from the Polnaszek Funeral Home at noon.
The Rev. Douglas P. Oran of Marshfield officiated and Miss Jackie Scheel was the organist during the service.
Burial was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Clarence Chris, Walter Fitense, Morris Gierl, Jack Harrop, Walter Maldonis and Archie Melvin.
George Brown was born at Owatonna, Minn., July 10, 1886, and came to the Abbotsford area with his parents when he was a child. He farmed around Abbotsford and about two years ago when he was hospitalized at Wausau and later at the Fond du Lac County Hospital, where his death occurred Saturday.
In 1908, he and Liddie Moore were united in marriage. She died July 23, 1953. His second marriage took place Aug. 21, 1954 to Bertha Peterson, who survives him.
Also surviving him are six step-children, Lawrence Peterson, Abbotsford, Vernon Peterson, Phillip Peterson and Mrs. William Schaetrka, Ripon; Mrs. Leo Smith, Markesan, and Mrs. Arthur Marwicz, Manchester.
He leaves two brothers, Charles L. Brown, Abbotsford, and Ward D. Brown, Menomonee, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Mildred Cornell, Waupaca. One sister preceded him in death.
Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral came from Ripon, Waupun, Markesan, Manchester, Wis. Rapids, Port Edwards, Athens, Colby, Abbotsford and surrounding area.
