Waterman, Vera (19 July 1891 - 18 March 1961)

 

Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Granton Methodist Church for Mrs. Clark (Vera) Waterman, 69, Granton, who died Saturday in Neillsville. She had been ill three weeks. The Rev. Virgil Holmes officiated and burial was made in Windfall Cemetery.

 

The former Vera Beeckler was born July 19, 1891, in the Town of Grant. She received her education in the rural school and Neillsville High School, and taught in several rural schools of Clark County.

 

She was married to the late Clark Waterman on June 30, 1912.  The couple resided in Chili and Mosinee for several years and in 1920 moved to Granton.  Mrs. Waterman died in 1960.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Helene) Okray, Madison; three sisters, the Misses Pearle and Daphne Beeckler, Granton, and Mrs. Theresa Pickett, Spencer; and a brother, Ben Beeckler. Three grandchildren also survive.

 

The Mosinee Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a member, held a service Sunday evening at the Gilbertson Funeral Home. Those from Mosinee attending were: Mrs. Robert Bush, Mrs. H. R. Evans, Mrs. James Ennerich, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Seit, Mrs. C. E. Slocum, Jim Williams, Coni Urban, Hazel Kell, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Schweinler.  Members of the Neillsville Lodge attending were: Mrs. Jas. Musil, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Smith, Mrs. William Smith, Mrs. Elsie Beilfuss, Mrs. Richard Albrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Langreck, and Mrs. Beulah Fisher.

 

Pallbearers were: William Schmidtke, Erhart Witte, Gus Bergemann, Walter Trimberger, Floyd Winn and Clay Converse.

 

Among those from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Okray and family, Madison; Raymond Smith, Milwaukee; Mrs. Harvey Tyrrell, Mrs. Frank Neuman, Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Nick Scherer, Mrs. Beulah Fisher, Mrs. Jas. A. Musil, and Mrs. Jessie Beeckler, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Hayden, Sr., Mrs. Mary Dagnon, and Bert E. Hanby, Merrillan; Mrs. C. B. Finnessy, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Seefeld, Mrs. Earl Pickett, Miss Ione Pickett, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Pickett, Spencer; Stanley Niemczyk, Madison; Mrs. John Kromenaker, Mrs. Walter Okray, and Mrs. Edward Okray, Stevens Point.
