New Kind of Parking Meter (6 April 1961)
(There was a photo, but not clear enough to position here)
Tony Karnitz of Rt. 3 Neillsville, tried out a new kind of parking meter on West Seventh (Snake) Street last Saturday afternoon as Mayor Herbert C. Feig looked on. The "meter" was composed of a tree branch, with a can taped at its top, and a three-cornered hole punched in its top to receive coins. Eight pennies could be counted by The Press cameraman. The new "meter" was erected by Forest Larsen after an unknown car clobbered the regular meter there. It was removed temporarily for repairs.
