Downtown Parking Lot (6 April 1961)
Strong support of a downtown parking area as recommended to the city council last week by the city planning commission was given Monday night by the Neillsville Kiwanis Club.
In a letter telling of a resolution adopted at its meeting, the club stated its belief that "there is a clear, present need for off-Street parking facilities. The letter, addressed to Mayor Herbert C. Feig and members of the city council, urged them to "support and act favorable on the recommendation; for the immediate creation of such facilities."
The letter, signed by Warren H. Huddleston, club president, was made public coincidentally with delivery to the city authorities. It stated:
"This open letter to each of you is sent to express the views of the Kiwanis club of Neillsville as adopted by resolution at our regular meeting on April 3, 1961 concerning the off-Street parking recommendation under your consideration.
"The Kiwanis club feels there is a clear, present need for off-Street parking facilities in Neillsville and strongly urges you to (balance of article missing) .
