Peters, Kenneth H. (3 December 1943 - 13 February 2011)
Kenneth H. Peters, 67, of Sparta died Sunday Feb. 13, 2011, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare, La Crosse. He was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Sparta to Harlan and Marian (Pfaff) Peters. He grew up in the Melrose and Black River Falls area.
When he was younger, Kenneth worked for his dad at the filling station in Black River Falls. He married Bonnie Wakershauser April 23, 1965, and later divorced. Kenneth married Ellen Peterson May 31, 1980, in Sparta. They lived in Cataract after marriage.
Kenneth drove semi over the road for many years. He also was a mechanic. He enjoyed going to his garage and fixing things. He also enjoyed talking to the many friends who stopped by his garage.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ellen of Sparta; his son, Kenneth Scott (Bonnie) Peters of Sparta; a step-daughter, Faith (Joe) Peterson of Sparta; grandchildren, Paige Peters and Katelyn Peters of Sparta, Brandon Scafe of La Crosse, Jesse Peterson of Sparta and Derrick Vian of Sparta; a sister, Patricia (Richard) Schleifer of Neillsville; mother-in-law, Doris Hanssen of Sparta; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori Peters; a son, Brian Peters; a step-daughter, Robin Peterson; a step-son, Terry Peterson; his sister, Carol Stetzer; and his niece and goddaughter, Cathy Bieneck.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m. at Lanham-Miller Funeral Home, Sparta, with Reverend Mark Wessel officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Sparta.
Family and friends were invited to call at the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
