Johnston, Lew Edna (19 NOV 1882 - 16 JAN 1955)

 

Mrs. Lew Edna Johnston, 72, died at her home in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) at 6 p.m. Sunday, of a heart attack.

 

She was born at Loyal, Sept. 19, 1882, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elias Weaver.  She received her education in the Loyal Public School and graduated from the high school in 1899.

 

She was married to Samuel Grant Johnston at Loyal, Dec. 30, 1903.  All of her life was lived in Loyal.  They operated the Weaver House on Main Street from 1903 to 1911.  From 1911 to 1922 they lived at various times on a farm in the town of Loyal.  From 1923 until seven years ago, when she retired, she operated the Johnston Hotel.

 

Mr. Johnson died April 11, 1929.

 

She is survived by two sons, Robert Johnston of Wauwatosa and Neil Johnston of Loyal, and one daughter, Mrs. Roland (Arlene) Seeman, Loyal, and nine grandchildren; also by one sister, Mrs. Nellie Amble of Prairie du Chien.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnston were held in the Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg officiating.  Burial was in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
